Simpson first started in 1959 as Simpson Drag Chutes, after creator Bill Simpson broke both arms in a drag accident. Simpson owned a military surplus store where he suggested to cross-form a parachute to slow down the drag car. While his initial test failed, it helped catapult the brand into what it is today. Simpson now manufactures gloves, helmets, harness systems, driver's suits, head restraints, shoes, and more for racers at both the local track and international team levels
